Health Department forms the backbone for early recognition and diagnosis for young infant and toddler. With the awareness, better coordination of the services, simplified referral system, the identification of children with special needs has increased markedly since year 2005. The services include Hospital care and Clinic Based Rehabilitation care (CBR).

CBR Jawa is our first CBR started in March 1996 with the aim for establishing the early diagnosis and clinic-based early intervention and rehabilitation programme, it became our one stop referral centre since July 2005 and now equip with public health specialist, paediatric neurologist, paediatrician, psychologist (registered counselor), physiotherapist, occupational therapist and speech therapist, all suspected new cases from other CBR will come here for the assessment and draw out a plan for individual needs. Under guidance of the Sarawak State Health Department and Kuching Divisional Health Office since 2005 with one physiotherapist, the program has been extended to other Maternal and Child Health Clinics listed below. At the moment, Kuching Divisional Health Office has 2 physiotherapists and 1 occupational therapist helping in these clinics.

Hospital referral is mainly through polyclinic and general practitioner. We provide multidisciplinary care include the paediatric rehabilitation clinic, paediatric neurology clinic, orthopedic clinic, eye clinic, ENT clinic, dietitian, social worker, speech therapist, audiologist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist and others supporting units.
